Prime Gaming Laptop with three collapsible screens
Prime_Gaming_Laptop_1.jpg
If this kind of a lappie does go into production, I'm sure many gamers will ditch their regulars and go for this collapsible gaming laptop concept. Called the Prime Gaming Laptop and designed by Kyle Cherry, it's a goldmine as far as I'm concerned. It features three collapsible screens that offer a wide viewing panel. When open, it has a 32:10 aspect for better in game visibility. It closes to the size of a 13' notebook and opens to a supper wide aspect 26' notebook. The main screen is a 10' concealed OLED screen with 16:10 aspect. Both the left and the right screens are Aux OLED screens with 8:10 aspect.
The Prime laptop boasts of an aluminum body, which provides it strength and cooling. There is plenty of 2 CPUs and GPUs with large vents to prevent over heating.

Proper laptop ergonomics

Proper laptop ergonomics

0lapergo22.jpg

More of you are probably reading this on laptops than on desktops; as of the last financial quarter, notebook sales finally began to outpace desktop sales.

So--how's your posture? The Apple Blog has a piece up onwhat you can do to adhere to proper laptop ergonomics, since we use notebooks differently than the typical tower-keyboard-monitor set-up.

The article also takes a look at products designed to aid laptop users, like the Lapdawg, below. Looking at that photo, we can't help but wonder--how did she get into that position? Do you set it up on the bed, then slide into it? Looks kinda wonky to us.

Radio Flyer Cloud 9 Wagon Crushes My Youthful Memories With MP3 Player, Bucket Seats [Luxury Wagons]

Radio Flyer Cloud 9 Wagon Crushes My Youthful Memories With MP3 Player, Bucket Seats [Luxury Wagons]

What a sad sack I was in grade school. My Radio Flyer wagon had a busted wheel and rust. This concept, dubbed Cloud 9, has an MP3 player and more.

So all that means I'm feeling pretty inadequate right now. And why shouldn't I? As CNN notes in their report on the latest invention out of Radio Flyer's Chicago-based HQ, this thing has enough gadgets and gizmos to give the family mini-fan a serious case of penis envy.

First, there's the aforementioned MP3 player and speaker system, meaning this could very well be the first wagon that little Timmy and friends will use to ghost ride down a cul de sac.

And when he gets tired of that, he can strap himself in to one of the two bucket seats using a five-point racing harness. At his fingertips will be a digital display panel, complete with temperature readouts, odometer and speedometer. Got a Juicy Juice sippy cup handy? No worries. The Cloud 9 has cupholders too.

‘We approached this product much like an automotive company might with a concept car,’ said Mark Johnson, Radio Flyer’s product development manager.

Should the Cloud 9 see the light of day, and there's a pretty good chance that it will, the asking price will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,000. That's a small price to pay to ensure that your son or daughter has the stuff necessary to crush the spirits of the other neighborhood children and their parents.

A different take on the expandable bookcase

A different take on the expandable bookcase

0SebastinErrzuriz_edited.jpg

Sebastian Errazuriz's segmented folding shelf design looks like a pain to install, but it's a neat way to store an ever-changing collection of books and objects. We like that the concept is similar in function to the Rek, but totally different in form factor.

No Need for Batteries, Shake TV Remote to Make it Work

No Need for Batteries, Shake TV Remote to Make it Work

Undoubtedly we’ve seen this year greener and greener technologies for various of our gadgets. Alternative energy is also a big issue with gadgets manufacturers. The remote control in the picture doesn’t need any batteries to make it work. The Shake Control is a concept TV remote that works simply by shaking it. Just move it in different directions to change the channels or the volume. The remote has a visible arrow-shaped magnet and coils of wire inside. All those components will generate 20-30mA current when the device is shaken. Then the gravity sensor measures the direction of the shake and delivers the corresponding result. The remote is definitely interesting, but I’ll get tired soon as I am going through channels over and over to find something worthy of watching.

Silicon showerhead breaks out of the mold

Silicon showerhead breaks out of the mold

0dropshow.jpg

The current trend in shower head design could be called industrial-luxurious, with heavy-duty, elegantly-shaped steel fixtures that look like they were crafted in a precise German foundry.

Italy's iB Rubinetterie bucks this trend with their Drop showerhead, modeled after a water droplet and surprisingly crafted from silicon rather than metal. We like it, but the form factor might take a bit of getting used to; we almost feel like you'd have to squeeze it to turn the water on.

The Eddy suction excavator, designed by Maciej Puzon, is a tracked, remote-controlled vacuuming unit designed to squeeze into places where regular earth-moving machines can't. It can also be hooked up to a larger storage unit, for suctioning out mass quantities of dirt.

Amazing, you say?

But can it do this?

New Zealand Yacht's new 50-meter Wavepierecer promises ultimate luxury to its clients

New Zealand Yacht's new 50-meter Wavepierecer promises ultimate luxury to its clients
New_Zealand_Yacht_1.jpg
Damon Jones, Marketing Director for New Zealand Yachts is all set to please his clients by introducing a new concept that will allow prospective buyers to view every perspective of their latest 50meter design. For this amazing task he has hired the boy-wonder from down-under, Richard Elliott, whose company Urban Voyage specializes in bringing concepts to virtual life with advanced 3D modeling techniques, along with an exciting new tool that enables end users to view every perspective of a design. He will help to bring life to their latest design, a 50-meter multi hull that promises to be quite a stunner. Beyond the obvious advantages of fuel efficiency, space and stability, the S50 comes into her own with a 22 knot cruise speed, topping out at an estimated 26 knots. As with any wavepiercing design, directional stability at speed is excellent, deceleration forces from wave impact is minimal, vibration and sound are well insulated, wake signatures are low and stability at rest is supreme.
To get a grasp on the many dimensions that make up a design, Urban Voyage has introduced 'yachtVIEU', a pdf based file viewer that allows users to rotate the image on any axis, changing perspective with the swipe of a mouse. With over 1300 square meters of living space, this yacht promises to become the largest luxury wavepiercer to date. Some of the features of this yacht include private indoor and outdoor dinning areas, large cinema room, private owners deck with pool, spacious multi purpose sun deck and many more such features that are sure to make this yacht the ultimate in luxury travel.

For all those interested, the specifications are as follows:

Lots of women will tell you they hate carrying handbags--especially when going clubbing--but they need to have what's inside. To solve the bulky-purse problem, designer and entrepreneur Sandy Alexander came up with the Bucklette, a 'hands-free alternative to a purse.' The belt-buckle-like device is designed to hold lipstick, a key or two, cash and ID.

My Chumby’s Fish!

My Chumby’s Fish!

Chumby(ies?) are a love it or hate it thing for me. For those not in the know, it’s a squishy wireless device that lets you download widget-like applications, everything from an alarm clock to a flickr photo viewer. Bruno Fosi and his creative mind hi-jacked his Chumby and created a goldfish tank networked with other enabled Chumby(ies?).

And YES I know it’s terrible to put a goldfish in a tiny space like that. That’s his fish, not mine.

Sensors on a robot monitor water conditions and report back to you. Because the device is wireless, automated tasks like feeding or medicine administration become a cinch. Now you can go away on long trips without needing a fish sitter.

Wait, that’s not all! A colorful touch screen and webcam enable you to feed your friend’s fish and maintain aquarium health. The Chumby’s accelerometer, compression sensors and microphone allow real-time online interaction with your friends’ fish, using the captured shake and tap movements to simulate vibrations and air bubbles each other’s aquarium!

The Tea Orbz is a bizarre concept for a tea-serving boading ball comprised of two halves, a cooker-half and a water-containing half.

The versatile device can also be painted grey and used to destroy Alderaan.

0orbz15.jpg

It can also be painted black and may be able to get Princess Leia to tell you what the plans of the Rebel Alliance are.

Lastly, you can set it down and serve up some delicious ribs in a parking lot.

Concept Electric Folding Bike

Concept Electric Folding Bike

Concept Electric Folding Bike

This conceptual electric folding bike ought to be worth taking a look at, right? Well, it might have picked up a Merit prize in a bike design competition, but it certainly lies at the bottom of the practicality scale as you'll need to charge it at home by pedaling. Strange - why can't we pedal and charge it simultaneously while we're outside? Is this some nefarious plot to get some of us to exercise at home? Kinda makes it pointless to ride a bike to work when you have to spend extra time juicing it up at home before the batteries are able to last you through to the office. No wonder it hasn't made it to the manufacturing line yet, if ever.

Not only does Energizer's Solar Recharger handle regular rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, it's fitted with a USB port for charging almost any USB powered gadget. Expected to retail for $49.99, the device will come packaged with 2 zinc-based rechargeable AA batteries. Considering this will shortly be on the market, it definitely ups-the-anti for anyone considering entering the Greener Gadgets Competition.

Bonfire Lamp: Another Cool-Looking Stupid Idea [Concepts]

Bonfire Lamp: Another Cool-Looking Stupid Idea [Concepts]

Current lamps are pretty simple to use. I'm not so sure they're in need to a redesign. But we like this Bonfire Lamp concept all the same.

By designer Kang Kyung Lee, you twist each individual flare to activate the internal LED. Then, if you have a deft touch, each piece can be arranged campfire style, or merely laid on the road in the ever-charming mock accident formation.

One point though—does it bother anyone else that the lamps have different bottoms than tops? I'd prefer symmetry.

Alls My Monies

Alls My Monies

Supervision is the personal financial assistant you wish you had. The electronic budget diary scans receipts, charts money coming in/out, talks to your bank, and gives you monthly expense details so you can balance your finances more effectively - or for most people, at all.
